With so much excitement about becoming a finalist in the National Facilitator awards – in the category of Transforming lives – it got me reflecting on my desire to share my perspective on the thrilling evolution of coaching.
Coaching, a practice that has long been revered for its ability to facilitate personal growth and development, is currently experiencing a transformative revolution.
Traditionally, coaching has employed a left-brain, logical approach centered around the neocortex and rational thinking. However, a new wave of coaches, known as transcendent coaches, are emerging with a more holistic, systemic, and interconnected mode of coaching. This shift presents both a remarkable opportunity for coaches who embrace this new paradigm and a significant threat for those who cling to outdated methods.
In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) looms on the horizon as a potential replacement for coaches who merely rely on asking great questions and assisting clients in setting and achieving goals. With an extensive repository of coaching questions, modalities, and processes at its disposal, AI possesses the potential to render traditional coaching obsolete. Coaches who limit themselves to this level of coaching run the risk of being surpassed by AI.
However, for those coaches who can transcend the ordinary and operate at a higher level of complexity, emergence, and interconnectedness, a world of opportunities awaits. These transcendent coaches possess the ability to engage not only their clients but also the entire network of individuals, teams, and systems that surround their clients. By cultivating this interconnected approach, coaches can unlock their true potential and propel themselves to new heights of success.
It is crucial for coaches to recognise the importance of adopting this transcendent coaching approach now.
